About the Course
This five-week course invites students into the world of Daphne du Maurier, tracing characters, themes and locations in a taste of her long-form and short-form fiction. Starting with a return to Manderley, the country house in Rebecca, the course will analyse her writing style, review biographical context, and explore du Maurier’s enduring popularity as an author of macabre tales. Each week students read a new text to compare how du Maurier's dark humour and unusual plots fit into the gothic modes. Please note this course is not eligible for any concessionary rates.
